2011 Pueblo Pride: Plenty of Reasons to be Proud

Members of the SCEA board would like to thank Nicole Hurt who is the Northern CO Director, of the Colorado Progressive Coalition for spending the day with us. We participated in a in a day-long workshop/training provided by Nicole. In the training we addressed how oppression, power, and privilege inform our lives, our communities, and our work together.

We look forward to employing the strategies we were taught by Nicole. It is opportunities such as this that provides our movement the tools necessary to be strong allies and advocates.

The Independence Ball and Social held at the Senate on Saturday July 30^th was a success. There was entertainment, food, drinks and a beautiful crowd. It was great to see all the different members of the community that came out to support us. We feel encouraged and energized and this is all thanks to you! We couldn't have done it without out all of the super support we got from our allies and volunteers. A very special thanks goes out to Michelle and the staff at the Senate, The Steel City Theater Company, Heather Poole and her Salsa All Stars, and last but not least DJ Superstar Rich who kept us dancing all night long.

We are proud to announce that OutFront Youth group, Pueblo has been granted a Chinook Fund grant!!! Thank you to all of the youth that spoke to the funding committee!! And thank you to all at SCEA who helped make this possible!
