Call for Artists!
The Southern Colorado Equality Alliance (SCEA) is calling artists for a mural design for the Pueblo Levee.
Eligibility:
All artists of any background may submit a proposal. Preference will be given to local artists.
Scope of Work:
SCEA is pleased to present this opportunity for artists to submit a design and proposal for a mural on the Pueblo Arkansas River Levee where it will be seen by thousands of people annually. All types of design will be considered, but SCEA is hoping for a creative way of representing our organization and the LGBTQ+ community of Pueblo. We don’t want to limit artists’ creativity and we hope to receive a variety of interpretations. Guidelines for levee murals can be found here: https://www.pueblolevee.org/call-for-artists-for-pueblo-levee-mural-project/. The final design will need to comply with these guidelines.
Deadline:
We will accept submissions through May 31, 2022.
Cash Prize:
A cash prize of $100 each will go to the top three designs selected by our Board of Directors. The top design will be presented to the Levee Art Review Committee for approval. If approved, an additional cash prize may be awarded to the final design.*
Selection Criteria:
Our Board of Directors will carefully consider each proposal on the following criteria:
Theme - How the mural relates to our organization and/or the LGBTQ+ community of Pueblo
Uniqueness and Creativity
Feasibility of completion and approval by the Levee Art Review Committee
Budget - We expect to spend $3,000 to cover all materials and artists’ compensation
*Selection by our Board of Directors as the top design does not guarantee that the mural will be placed on the levee.
